Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Tuesday termed solarisation the “only option for survival”, adding that the center has planned to immediately convert all the federal government entities’ buildings to solar power by April 2023.
Addressing a solarisation conference, the premier proclaimed the development which took place in a bid to slash a huge chunk out of the costly fuel import bill hovering around $27 billion
Unveiling further details, PM Shehbaz said that the procedures for conversion of solar power should be fast-tracked as they had set April 2023 as the timeline for the employment of this plan.
According to the plan, he said, all the federal government ministries, departments, authorities, and their offshoots in the provinces would immediately shift to solar energy.
He said it would be a model for the provincial governments as the federal government would “not make additional expenditures” over the solarisation process.
The premier also urged all the relevant authorities and the stakeholders to complete the required process by the end of April next year and meet the timeline which had been set.
“Consider it our political, social, national, and religious duty to implement it as soon as possible,” he opined.
Pakistan’s middle-order batter Saud Shakeel said Sunday that Pakistan will try to “forget” the England whitewash and focus on the imminent Test series against New Zealand.
The middle-order batsman, during an interview with Geo News ahead of the first Test against New Zealand, said he will try to do better against the Kiwis and learn from his errors.
We will try to disremember what happened with us in the series against England and shift our focus to the series against New Zealand. It’s a new series, new day, and new beginning and we are eager to do well,” he said.
“We sat after the defeat against England and discussed the areas where we lacked; we will try to overcome those mistakes and do better against New Zealand,” he said.
When probed about which areas he felt the team lacked in, he spoke about his performance and said that he regrets missing occasions to score big despite scoring four fifties in his maiden Test series.
“I regret missing those opportunities, I should’ve converted at least two fifties into centuries and if I had done that, I believe results would’ve been different for Pakistan,” he said. As a player, Shakeel said, his goal is to make Pakistan win Test matches. “I would’ve been more satisfied if my performance had helped Pakistan win those test matches,” he said.
