Pakistan has decided to also allow the use of Afghan trucks for the transportation of wheat from Wagah border to Torkham, said a Foreign Office statement issued on Friday.
The decision has been taken with a view to further facilitate Pakistan’s decision to allow transportation of 50,000 MT of wheat and life-saving medicines from India to Afghanistan via Wagah border on an exceptional basis for humanitarian purposes.
“This demonstrates the commitment and seriousness of the Government of Pakistan to facilitate the proposed humanitarian assistance,” said the FO statement.
The decision was conveyed to the Charge d’ Affaires of India today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Indian government was also urged to proceed quickly to take necessary steps to expeditiously undertake the delivery of the humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday that the next local bodies poll for Punjab will be held through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and legislations in that regard will be soon passed in the assembly with the support of allies.
Speaking to the press after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s core committee meeting, Chaudhry said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is going in the right direction and its technical committee will decide how the elections will be conducted under the EVMs.
“The government will help the ECP in whatever help is needed to conduct elections under the EVMs,” he said. “There is a wrong perception in the media that the election will be expensive under the EVMs, it will cost exactly the same amount as any other election, it will make the process more timely and smooth.”
The information minister said that the government has decided to hold the Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa polls on December 19. “In Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa election, there will be a contest between 37,752 candidates on 17 seats.”
Chaudhry informed that the government plans to introduce Insaf Sehat Card in Punjab in coming months and for the program to be launched it has allocated Rs350 billion. “With this plan in action, every citizen in Punjab could avail free health service for Rs1 million. We want the Sindh and Balochistan government to join this initiative, the Balochistan government has showed its willingness for this program however we are awaiting response from Sindh.”
Pakistan has offered to host a summit of foreign ministers from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) next month to address the looming humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, said Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The Pakistan offer comes after a request from Saudi Arabia, which currently chairs the 57-member group. In a video message, FM Qureshi said that Pakistan fully endorses this initiative of the Kingdom.
“Pakistan also offers to host this meeting in Islamabad on the 17th of next month,” he said and added, “We [Pakistan] are confident that the OIC member states will endorse this offer.”
The United Nations has repeatedly warned that Afghanistan is on the brink of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, and Qureshi said the OIC “must step in to help our Afghan brethren”.
“We should step up our collective efforts to alleviate the humanitarian needs of the Afghan people,” he said in the video statement.
FM Qureshi reiterated that Afghanistan was facing a serious humanitarian situation as millions of Afghans, including women, and children were confronted with an uncertain future due to a shortage of food, medicine and other essential living supplies.
“The advent of winter has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis,” he feared.
The minister also urged the OIC to step up to alleviate the humanitarian needs of the Afghan people, provide immediate and sustained support to them, and continue to remain engaged with them for the wellbeing and prosperity of Afghanistan.
The OIC summit in December will likely be the biggest international gathering on Afghanistan since the Taliban’s return.
After the Taliban seized power on the heels of a US withdrawal in August, more than half of the country is facing “acute” food shortages.
The prospect of a long hard winter is raising the spectre of mass starvation and migration.
The international community has been wary of funding aid efforts through the new Taliban government, considered a pariah owing to its links to terrorism.

Music can bring us to tears or to our feet, drive us into battle or lull us to sleep. Music is indeed remarkable in its power over all humankind, and perhaps for that very reason, no human culture on earth has ever lived without it. The name “Masood Alam” is been included in such artists that gave meaning and soul to the music industry of Pakistan. He is one of the prime talents who filled colours into any lifeless story or content.
Masood Alam was a pioneer who produced art for many beloved brands and composed music for many profiled artists including Atif Aslam and Dino Ali. Masood Alam’s composition has the ability and power to influence human thoughts and create a lifelong home in everyone’s heart.
Masood Alam an artist from a very humble background and with no strings to artistry, found his love for music at a very young age. From playing with cans, cardboard boxes to buying his very own keyboard at the age of 13. An artist who encountered many ups and downs and still came out strong with more passion and containment. Masood Alam is one of the golden musicians in Pakistan, who could create harmonious melodies just by understanding the plot.
Masood Alam took the nuisance music from many Sufi Kalams and brought an era of respective artistry to give Sufism a true meaning of legacy and soul that lagged before. Masood Alam composed his first project of “Imtezaj” volume 1 under his pioneer records of “Wajdaan”. Further, he created melodies for Pakistan’s beloved channel “PTV Home” show “123 Check”.
Masood Alam a poet, an artist and a music composer brought a sense of new legacy in the music industry that brought a paradigm shift. Masood Alam not only is a great artist but also a supporter of all those musicians that are struggling to make ways for themselves to get recognised.
It is only Masood who wanted to build an army of artists for Pakistan that shackles all the orthodox ways of the music industry and bring a new era of artistry under music that gets our country recognised and appreciated.
Pakistan defeated New Zealand by five wickets in a thrilling and exciting T20 world cup match in Sharjah. Back-to-back victories for Pakistan in the ongoing ICC T20 Cup 2021’s Super 12 Stage and they are leading the points table in their group.
Though matches between Pakistan and New Zealand have always been thrilling because both are considered one of the top teams in the cricket world, this match was more compelling for both teams. The reason behind this is the withdrawal of the New Zealand tour in Pakistan, which they cancelled at the last moment by giving an excuse for security issues. According to experts playing with New Zealand was more challenging for Pakistan than playing with India. But the Pakistani cricket team accepted this challenge and beat New Zealand the way they deserved to be.
Pakistan first won the toss and then won the most exciting match of the T20 world cup 2021. In the first innings, New Zealand played well and scored 42 runs by the end of the Powerplay. NZ lost the first wicket by Haris Rauf of Martin Guptill. After ten overs, the Black Caps reached 60/3. It’s where the chances of Pakistan’s win increased. After 15 overs Hafeez and Imad showed their performance and drew out two other players of the NZ team. Haris Rauf with the ball and Asif Ali with the bat are both reasons behind this tremendous victory.
Pakistan has defeated the two most prominent and strong teams of the world (India and New Zealand), and the nation is hoping that green caps will surely bring this world cup to Pakistan.
